Memoir

Each of us has a song (or songs) that we hold dear. Maybe it's the song that played during your father-daughter dance, the music in the background while you had your first kiss, or your friend group's go-to party tunes. These songs can come in any language, happen in any situation, and be significant in big or small ways. The important thing is that they are significant to your life.

 

For your memoir, explore the relevance of three songs that have been impactful to you. For this essay, you might recall an important time or situation in which it played, explore the personal significance of a song's lyrics, or illustrate a piece's impact on your life. 

 

The structure is your choice, but allow for enough space to adequately explore each song. Use the essays in Nick Hornby's Songbook (AKA 31 Songs) as examples. Also, use no outside research.
